Mario Galaxy 2 & Metroid in 2010 plus Vitality Sensor and Zelda News at E3

Metroid Other MIn a report to Japanese investors, Nintendo has confirmed that both Metroid: Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be out this year. Metroid will be out in the summer, nothing more specific other than "this year" was offered about Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Nintendo also promises to show off games for the Vitality Sensor (maybe WiiRelax?) and bring us more news about the new Zelda game for the Wii at this year's E3. If Zelda was released in 2010, it would be the first time Nintendo ever released a Mario, Metroid and Zelda game in the same year. But that seems unlikely to happen, since Nintendo is more likely to space out their big releases, they will need something for 2011 after all.

And perhaps most surprising, they announced the Wii has now become the company;'s best selling console of all time at 68 million units, passing the original Nintendo's 62 million. Also the DS has become their best selling handheld with 125 million units sold, passing Gameboy's 118 million.

I find that shocking. The original Nintendo was the system when I was younger. Everybody I knew had one. There was no competition like today, where we have three systems sharing shelf space. And Gameboy  debuted in 1989, and had an unprecedented life span of 11 years, before it was finally replaced by the Gameboy Advance. The DS has managed to overtake that in less than 6 years. Amazing.

Beyonce To Promote Another Nintendo Game

Nintendo has announced that Beyonce will join an advertisement for Style Savvy for the DS.
According to the official Nintendo website:
Style Savvy™ combines creativity and fashion with a collection of trendy clothes, chic accessories and stylish shoes. As the owner of a clothing boutique, you must purchase inventory, monitor the store’s funds and try to please a constant stream of customers who look to you for the best fashions.
In other words a game I will never buy. Sounds to me like one of those "Imagine" games that only appeals to preteen girls, which I am not.
Beyonce previously starred in a comercial for Rhythm Heaven.
Yeah, cause that sold so well after she promoted it.

POKEMON HEARTGOLD & SOULSILVER DATED, TO COME WITH PEDOMETER

Yes folks, the DS Pokemon games HeartGold and SoulSilver will be released in the US on March 14th this year. The games have already sold millions of units in Japan.
It's amazing how much the Japanese love their Pokemon, its like it's always 1999 over there.
Even more exciting though is the inclusion of a Pokewalker, a Pokemon branded Pedometer. This pedometer will measure your steps and will award gamers with in game items for walking.
I can't wait. Wait... yes I can.

Here Comes Another DS

In an interview with a Japanese website, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has apparently announced a new DS. This one would feature graphics at least twice the resolution of the current iteration and, get ready for it, motion controls, most likely similar to that of the iPhone/iPod Touch.
Details are scarce at the moment and no date has been given as to when this might be available on the shelf of your local video game store.
This announcement comes before the latest DS iteration, the DS XL, has even hit store here in America.
It seems like an odd time to announce a product, this far in advance. If people know this "HD" version is coming out, why would they bother to fork over any cash for the ones available now?
